We’re Not All Conservative

I saw this in Tahlequah on a campaign poster T.W. Shannon for lieutenant governor. We’re not all Trump supporters.

There’s an old saying of “There’s a face for radio.” And Gene Shalit may not have had the preppy looks of Tom Brokaw or Peter Jennings, but he made film criticism worth watching with his witty puns and on-camers enthusiasm. His distinct look which consisted of a brushy moustache, frizzy Afro-styled hair, horn-rimmed glasses and bowContinue reading “Fade Out For Gene Shalit”

Happy Flag Day!

Wishing you all a Happy Flag Day and nothing else takes precedent nationally today.

Congrat, Knicks On NBA Championship!

My Saturday night plans were ruined almost badly by some idiot in a big pickup truck who nearly hit my car. But I’ll have more on that later. But the bigger news is what did happen – the New York Knicks are NBA Champs for the first time since 1973! Congratulations to the Knicks andContinue reading “Congrat, Knicks On NBA Championship!”

We Need To Talk About Mens Mental Health Awareness

June is Mens Mental Health Awareness Month. I’m not surprised if you don’t know. Mental health is taboo too much with men. No one really wants to talk about it until someone goes nuts and shoots up a school, church, parade, concert, movie theater, etc. And then it briefly gets mentioned for a few daysContinue reading “We Need To Talk About Mens Mental Health Awareness”

‘Send Help’ Avoids Normal Cliches As A Dark Comedy On Social Structure

A movie like Send Help seems to have arrived at the right time. Following the Texas snow winter storms of 2021, many of these doomsday preppers found themselves unable to survive a week with no electricity. When the fit really hits the shan, they’re SOL. Rachel McAdams plays Linda Liddle, a mousey strategist at aContinue reading “‘Send Help’ Avoids Normal Cliches As A Dark Comedy On Social Structure”

Suppose They Gave A Narcissistic Octogenarian A Party And No One Cared

Alright, show of hands, who all knew the Freedom 250 events would focus solely on the President and the President only. It’s even funny how some people are blaming the initially announced musical acts cowering to their fans and pulling out. Yeah, the nerve, huh?I mean with musical acts canceling concert tours left and rightContinue reading “Suppose They Gave A Narcissistic Octogenarian A Party And No One Cared”

Drumpf Jinxes Knicks

Ok, show of hands – who isn’t surprised the New York Knicks lost the third game against the San Antonio Spurs? While it was a close game at 115-111, there was a spectator in the crowd who was only there to make it about him. The Knicks last won a NBA championship in 1973 andContinue reading “Drumpf Jinxes Knicks”

Remembering Those Who Fought And Died On D-Day This Day

When I worked at the Wagoner Tribune, one of the older military veterans, Arlie “Lee” Wilson, had participated in Operation Overlord, aka D-Day, which began on June 6, 1944. It was a main offensive in the European Theater of World War II that would result in the surrender of Nazi Germany about a year later.Continue reading “Remembering Those Who Fought And Died On D-Day This Day”
