Blue Tsunami!

I haven’t felt too well today despite the news but sometimes you have space out your excitement and celebration over time.

I’m not surprised that here in Oklahoma, it was business as usual as Cyndi Munson, a Democrat, lost to Mike Mazzei, a Republican, for governor. So many Republicans and conservatives said they didn’t like them. Yet that wasn’t a sure-fire vote for Munson. But Republican Kevin Hern picked up about 57,500 more votes for the U.S. Senate.

But it was more of a narrow margin of votes than in the past elections for governor. Just because people aren’t satisfied with Mazzei, they’re still not going to vote for Munson. Ever since the TEA Party/MAGA movement, people in this state haven’t really voted wisely. I feel some people couldn’t get over that Munson is a woman, unmarried, and only 41. People still think a Norman Rockwell-style family means someone is going to make a better elected official.

But Munson does have the momentum to return in 2030 or run for the Senate or the House. In other parts of the country, women won their governor races. In my native Georgia, Keisha Lance Bottoms won becoming the first black woman elected governor. South of us in Texas, Gino Hinojosa, a Democrat, defeated Greg Abbott. She’ll be the first Latina governor. Deb Haaland will be the first Indigenous Native American woman governor as she wins in New Mexico. And Dr. Amy Acton easily defeated that scumbag Vivak Ramaswamy to be the next governor of Ohio.

Democrats picked up wins all over the country. In Iowa, Rob Sand, only 44, was elected governor. And Josh Turek, at 47, had been elected Senator. Eric Armstrong was elected to the Iowa State House despite suspending his campaigning in September citing health issues. His name remained on the ballot and Armstrong has said he will serve in the position.

I think it shows people were growing tired of the racism and sexism as well as the older people remaining in office for decades. Susan Collins, a Republican, was defeated. She has been in office 30 years even though she claimed a long time ago, she’d only serve two terms. Virginia Fox, at 83, has been the longest serving Congressional representative from her district in North Carolina. She also lost.

People want new ideas. They need new ideas. That’s why I suggest the Democrats ignore Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer for leadership come 2027. It was a big mistake making Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House the second time in 2019. Schumer has acted too long like the old man who still wants to remain civil no matter how bad things are going. And Jeffries has basically been the Invisible Man as House Minority Leader. You hear him say something but there wasn’t much action.

The President is going to be a lame-duck president. This isn’t the same as after the 2018 elections. Any chances he had of trying to get a third term and abusing his power is going to end. We don’t need Pelosi and Schumer telling us now is the time to heal while not pointing the best medicine on things. Yet we’ve done nothing but pick at the wound. Granted, not many people thought voters would be too stupid to re-elect Trump in 2024.

This brings me to a question of whether the destruction of Russian data centers by Ukraine military and reports digitial voting machines were having problems as people selected Democrat candidates but the Republicans were being tabulated by the computer meant the 2024 election was somehow rigged. How did Trump win in areas where Democrats won the other races especially in all swing states?

It might be something the new Congress might want to look into. Part of healing is preventing things from happening again. You keep taking the antibiotics after you feel better for a reason. Democrats weren’t elected so they could wag their finger at the MAGA movement writing pointless censure motions.

Something has to be done. People need to be held accountable for the overabuse by ICE and Pete Hegseth in the Department of Defense. To be honest, I expect Trump to step down citing health issues but not before J.D. Vance gives him a universal pardon. He’s going to leave Vance and Hegseth holding the bag.

What do you think? Please comment.

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted.
