For the past few weeks, this peahen has been hanging around my house. Since it’s been so hot and dry during this time, I set out water and dry cat food that it eats along with crumbled saltine crackers.
My stepsister passed away from cancer in mid-April and I noticed a peahen around at the same time. I don’t know if it’s the same one. My neighbors had some chickens at that time and they don’t now. If it was the same, I’m guessing it kept itself in the wooded areas behind our houses.
For most of the spring and early summer, we had a lot of rain so it could’ve been able to forage easier for food. But it’s been more about three weeks since we had any good rain.
But I usually set out water anyway for the rest of the cats outside. Skitty eats mostly wet canned food now but I leave some dry if she gets the craving. I’m sure this peahen can find some insects to nibble on outside. She’s been staying on the south side of my house which has more shade.
