It’s the first of September and Mitch McConnell has been MIA for over 11 weeks. Imagine if you could take over 11 weeks off for a medical issue and still get paid.
Yes, imagine it because because it wouldn’t happen for you or anyone you know. People have to ask and beg for sick days and PTO from other employees if they have health issues and even if it’s family. And I’ve had to go to work while family were in the hospital and even dead. The day after my stepfather was buried, my mom went to work. She had to because there were bills to be paid.
When my ex’s mother died the Monday of Thanksgiving Week, my boss made a comment that never sat well with me. When I said her mother was local, his response was relief I wouldn’t have to take time off to go to the funeral. Her mother was cremated and never wanted a memorial. But still, this is the world people live in.
McConnell, a Republican, is the senior Senator from Kentucky. He’s not cast one vote since he was taking to the hospital for a reported fall. He’s not made one public appearance or even released any sign that he’s alive except photos that look questionable.
There’s rumors he’s dead or unconscious and never going to recover. Yet he still maintains his elected position and his health care. At the same time, he worked relentlessly over the years trying to strip people of their health care.
Maybe it’s the fact the Republicans are turning against the President and his administration just two months away from the general elections, they’re trying to hold on to the power while they can. This should make you wonder what do they intend to do for the next four months as a new Congress will be in office in January.
