
Coyote vs. Acme snagged the second place spot on its opening weekend with over $15 million. That’s very impressive for a movie that three years ago was going to shelved and destroyed for a tax write-off.
No way was it going to defeat the juggernaut Spider-Man: Brand New Day but its praise from critics and audiences shows that the suits at Warner Bros. were wrong.
Back in 2019, Paramount Pictures released the trailer of the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie only to face an almost universal backlash against the design of the title character. This pushed the release back three months and it still was a massive hit and a very enjoyable movie.
It just goes to show that when the business people listen to the fans, things can work out. As a child I watch some of the worst live-action movies based on material that deserved better. I don’t know what was going on in 1987 but it saw the release of Masters of the Universe, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace and The Garbage Pail Kids Movie.
I know there’s more pressing issues at this time that need more attention. But we look to the arts and entertainment for enjoyment and escape. All the studio brass see are dollar signs. I plan on seeing the movie later this week. I hope you all find the time to see it yourself if you’ve not seen it yet. Or if you have, see it again.
