We’ll Meat Again. Don’t Know Where. Don’t Know When.

As of this posting, it seems the cattle ranchers who mostly approved the re-election of the current President are beginning to question their votes.

Beef prices, like everything, are high, and there’s really no optimism that they will go down anytime soon. Some ranchers are realizing the bullshit from Washington, D.C. It could be their so used to smelling it they didn’t immediately recognize it.

But now it seems they’re the latest group of people to be thrown under the bus by this administration. The announcement came over the last week to allow about 300,000 metric tons of foreign beef over a 90-day period. But the administration won’t say where it’s coming from, which means it might not even be beef or meat that hasn’t been properly inspected.

ThIs means if you can, buy as much meat as you can before the end of the month. Or make sure you buy from smaller markets, mostly locally owned, so it’s easier to identify the source. Food-borne illnesses are up in 2026 and I got sick last month on a meatlovers pizza. You never know what’s in food you buy from stores or restaurants and that’s the problem.

You take the risks. And people are saying that Texas Roadhouse workers are tampering with food of black people. However this social media post may not be true but ragebait.

I do know one thing, cook any ground meat thoroughly. I’m not talking about burning it because you can still make it well done while tasty and juicy. Back when I was in college in the late 1990s, I caught a story on Dateline or 20/20 about people becoming sick from trichinosis. That’s a foodborne parasitic infection found in undercooked or raw pork.

But there was one problem – the people getting sick didn’t eat pork. It was later determined that some major supermarket chains were lumping chicken, turkey and pork pieces into the meat grinder with beef. (I don’t remember what chains they were so I’m not going to guess.) Butchers and even store managers were being pressured by higher-ups who didn’t like they had to discard chicken, pork and turkey.

And people were cooking their hamburgers medium rare and they were getting sick. No one eats chicken or pork that isn’t good well.

I’m not going to finger point at some major market chains that have meat that doesn’t taste as good but you can tell it differs from more local meat that costs more. Sadly, people can’t always pay more. And with schools starting back this month, how will this affect millions of kids?

Here we are. Some voted for it. Others didn’t. But we’re all got to take a bite of this shit-burger.

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted.
