There’s a tasteless joke I once heard, “What does a black woman get when she has an abortion? $500 from CrimeStoppers.”
D.L. Hughley said as a mere child a police officer slapped him hard for something that he’s going to do.
The same people who wonder why Karmelo Anthony brought a knife to a track meet are the same ones who go into a supermarket with a gun. As a matter of fact, I saw someone with a handgun holster on his side in the dairy section the other day. I hope he was safe buying a half gallon of chocolate milk.
On June 14 in Senatobia, Miss. at a Wal-Mart, Kohen Wiley, 1, was killed when officers fired on a car in which he was a passenger. Details are sketchy. It’s been alleged that Kohen’s mother was shoplifting a box of diapers. The most expensive box I could find for that area in a quick search was about $57 and probably $60 with taxes.
I don’t know how $60 is worth the life of a small child. Can someone explain that to m There’s even questions if the cops had suspected the right people or even if there was a shoplifting incident at all.
Wal-Mart has replaced most of its manned registers with self-checkout. I love self-checkout. Others don’t. But if there was a huge issue on shoplifting, why didn’t they have more people near the entrances/exits?
Also just how the hell can the cops arrive at a store so fast unless there was something relayed on the 911 call to get them there faster than shit through a goose. Senatobia only has a population of 8,400 and I’m sure it still takes longer for a cop to be told there is a shoplifter even if there are out on patrol. A lot hasn’t been released in the last 100 hours or so which makes me think there’s a lot of CYA being considered.
Protests have erupted in which people were met with tear gas which only makes matters worse. And social media and the Internet is divided.
All I can say is if it was the wrong person or there was no shoplifting at all, it won’t matter. A lot of people just don’t care. Like the cop who hit Hughley, they feel that some people don’t deserve to be treated as humans nonetheless equals.
When Renee Good was murdered earlier this year by law enforcement, the officer yelled “Fucking bitch!” at her. How dare a woman do this? They tried to make it appear she had turned the wheels toward the officer, even though she didn’t. Scott Pelley, formerly of CBS News, claims he was fired because that horrible excuse for a journalist Bari Weiss wanted to make it appear the officer was in the right.
This isn’t the movie. Martin Riggs and John McClane can fire their Berettas, kill a dozen people, and still report to duty the next day. Thankfully that’s not how it happens in real life. There’s an investigation, usually a biased one, but the officer is put on leave or they are given desk duty.
Yet there are still people who feel police and law enforcement should be public executioners the way the Nazis would murder people en masse just for asking questions. It’s no surprise the modern form of law enforcement is derived from the runaway slave patrol. The Sanford Prison Experiment showed that when you get certain people an little bit of authority, they will abuse it as much as they can.
I was a former journalist covering courts and crime and it always seemed there was a divide along socioeconomic levels where some felt people were above the law. You need only look at the comment section of any online mugshot Facebook page to see how some repeat offenders get “thoughts and prayers” for serious crimes. And those are crimes more serious than shoplifting a box of diapers.
So it doesn’t matter to some people. People only hear what they want to hear. They’re only interested in news stories that align with their mentality and ideology.
(And I’m throwing a lot of big words here so if anyone reading can’t understand them, you’ll find this whole post as disrespectful.)
The sad part is Kohen won’t be the last. Another child will die by police or worse some idiot who couldn’t leave his firearm in the car for the five minutes it took him to get chocolate milk. I’m almost certain he went through a manned register because he didn’t get a discount for using self-checkout.
And if he did, he would raise a fuss because someone asked to see his receipt.
