Tonight is the championship NCAA Men’s basketball game between Michigan and the University of Connecticut. I have relatives from Michigan so I’ll be pulling for the Wolverines.
Over the weekend, the Women’s championship between UCLA and South Carolina was played with UCLA winning 79-51.
Women sports are starting to be taken more seriously especially in basketball. I covered a girls basketball game that went into four overtimes.
But back in early 2002, Disney released “Double Teamed” on its channel. The movie is about identical twins Heather and Heidi Burge, professional b-ball players when they were in high school.
The movie might have remained forgotten if it wasn’t for its glaring problems. Heather and Heidi are played by Poppi Monroe and Annie McElwain, who aren’t identical. They also didn’t have much of an acting career as neither one has an acting credit past 2006.
But in the last few years, the TV movie’s Big Game finale has been scrutinized, criticized and mocked for Heather committing multiple violations, as well as appearing within the three-point line and outside in separate shots. This also is supposed to take place within 7 seconds but takes about 50 seconds.
Here is the link as follows as the part I’m talking about happens at the 3:05 mark as Heather does some weird aerobic maneuver and then passes to Heidi when all she had to do was shoot the ball.
Even people with novice knowledge of basketball can tell there’s no way this could happen.
So who do you think will win tonight? Michigan or UConn? Please comment.
