The President Doesn’t Care About You – Period

They say you can tell a lot about someone by the way they treat an animal. Well, people who aren’t considerate of others tell you a lot. The current President was booed at a Texas/Tennessee football game a week ago. I’m sure as the baseball playoff season begins, he will be appearing at a game or two. And I’m sure he’s the type who will push a kid down to get a foul or homerun ball.

On Thursday, Oct. 1, he spoke at a rally at the Choctaw Event Center located in Durant, Okla. Earlier that day, he was in Denton, Texas about 90 miles south. It was a rainy day. People reportedly waited for hours out in the rain. There were no awnings and no tents. They didn’t open the doors until around 2 p.m. He was supposed to be speaking at 6 p.m.

But many people say they were turned away. Depending on who you talk to doesn’t, the facility has about 4,500 capacity give or take. They do have to take into consideration the news media and members of his staff as well as law enforcement for security. It was selected for two reasons – its proximity to Texas and its limited space.

In 2020, he spoke at the BOK Center in Tulsa which has about a 19,000 person capacity. But people didn’t show up for obvious reasons, mainly because the Covid-19 pandemic was happening. Yet many people online decided to get tickets but not show up. His campaign had squared off an over-flow area that was never used. It was a disgrace for him.

He wasn’t going to let it happen again.

And as the weather looked like it was going to keep Marine One from flying from Denton to Durant, they didn’t take that into account. Instead, they drove a motorcade nearly 100 mph. Who knows what would’ve happened had there been an accident especially in the rain? Reportedly some regular people were yelled at by law enforcement for even trying to watch the motorcade.

The President didn’t even show up until almost 8 p.m. nearly two hours after he was scheduled. I can understand 30 minutes. But that’s just disrespectful. Then again, he has never been a man of respect even though he acts like he deserves it all the time.

I remember the scene in the movie In the Line of the Fire where a Secret Service agent aggressively throws a line cook out of the way as if he doesn’t matter. This is during the climax where an assassination attempt is thwarted but it’s a representation of how little people of a certain socioeconomic status are treated.

When Bill Clinton was in office, people rushed the steel barriers and trampled on at least one person. Clinton and his staff rushed to help with even Clinton yelling people to “Back up!” and waving them back. It wss before Fox News and other conservative media went batshit nuts and would’ve spun it. Clinton wasn’t perfect and he had a lot of problems, but he wasn’t going to stand by and watch someone get trampled unlike the current president just standing around as someone has a health issue in the Oval Office.a

Yes this should’ve been planned better but as President, the buck stops here. It’s a shame that the Choctaw Nation didn’t do much to help the people. I hope none of them got sick. Yes, I know they wouldn’t care about us. But that’s the difference. It also makes me wonder what they’re getting out of hosting the event.

Despite what people might think, a lot of people here in Oklahoma do not like him nor the current governor. Yet I think so many people are worried about how they will be perceived if they support someone else. I know good and well, both sets of my grandparents wouldn’t have ever supported him. And, yes, they were rural farmers and ranchers.

The purpose of the rally was for support of Republican political candidates. But since 2011, Republicans have held the office of governor and lieutenant governor, so why continue to support them? And if a lot of them were from Texas, the campaign fell on deaf ears. I mean Durant is about 15 miles north of the Texas border.

Hopefully people will remember this when they go to the voting booths.

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted. Thank you for reading.
