The McDonald’s in Tahlequah, Okla. has its flags at half-staff.
Lindsey Graham passed away over the weekend and Trump ordered flags flown at half-staff which I’ve seen at government buildings and memorial parks but McDonald’s? Yes, Graham was a vet of the USAF, but Robert Mueller was a Marine vet and Jimmy Carter was a Navy vet. Flags weren’t ordered flown at half-staff when Mueller passed in March and Trump even said he wanted them raised after Carter passed. Trump even ordered them flown half-mast when Charlie Kirk, who wasn’t a veteran nor government official.
The late Army Maj. Richard Winters once told a man who was once his supervisor, “We salute the rank, not the man.” Now, McDonald’s is a private business. The owners can do what they want.
But all military vets deserve the same respect. Kirk may have said he applied for West Point, but there’s a big, big difference between applying to West Point and graduating from West Point.
