The 60th Super Bowl might be getting some more attention if it wasn’t for all the hoopla over the half-time show as Bad Bunny is scheduled to perform. So many conservatives (and racists) have been angry since it was first announced months ago. Kid Rock said he would do an alternative half-time show sponsored by Turning Point USA.
If you don’t remember, Kid Rock performed in 2004 where an American Flag top fashioned as a poncho. Of course, you might not remember it because it was the half-time show where Justin Timberlake tore the top off of Janet Jackson’s outfit revealing her naked breast.
And of course, in true 2004 fashion, everyone blamed Jackson for the “wardrobe malfunction,” even though it was Timberlake who did it. I remember Andy Rooney, a World War II veteran, said he found Kid Rock’s attire more offensive than Jackson. Now, people realize how wrong it was to criticize Jackson for what appeared to be a sexual assault on Timberlake’s part. Representatives with Veterans of Foreign Wars and Sen. Zell Miller of Georgia criticized Kid Rock’s attire as desecration of the American flag.
But of course times have changed and Kid Rock sees himself as the new Captain America. What’s funny is that so much has been made about the half-time performances, it’s usurped attention over the NFL teams competing. Just for the record, it’s the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.
I’m rooting for the Seahawks because I can’t stand the Patriots even with Tom Brady and Bill Belicheck. The stink of those years still lingers over the Patriots.
Of course they’ll be a bigger stink as people debate which half-time show was better and both sides will say there’s is the best. However, polls have shown that more people will see the official half-time show not Kid Rock’s which has had a hard time trying to find performers as most have been backing out.
Oh, well, there’s also the Puppy Bowl for those not interested in the Super Bowl at all.
