At the end of the day, this will be the lasting legacy of the Baby Boomers and early Gen Xers.
You didn’t work hard for Civil Righrs. That was your parents and elders. And you all know it. Not one single official Baby Boomer was of voting age when the Votings Rights and Civil Rights Act were signed. You had to 21 back then to vote. And that will probably be the next thing you’re trying to go back to.
Most Boomers and Xers worked summer jobs to pay to go to college, regardless of where it was. And it could pay for a lot of tuition and fees. You could get jobs without having to compete against a 40-something who was still having to rent.
Affirmative Action helped more white women per capita than it has any other demographic. And now you all want to do away with that because you don’t think others deserve the same fair treatment you did.
At this point any woman or POC who continues to support these actions probably needs to study history a little closer.
The SAVE Act didn’t work out so the next thing was to bluntly say we don’t want some people voting.
The next thing that will happen is ICE will be in voting districts that still go blue and Democrat. People will be detained long enough not to cast a ballot. Why do you think they’re wanting to end early voting or mail-in ballots.
There’s nothing fair about redistricting especially when the districts look like someone drew them while holding the pen in their mouth.
I even sat through a county commissioner meeting where a commissioner lamented he might lose some of his family and friends by one proposed map. Guess what party affiliation he was and I’ll give you a hint – it’s the party controls all three branches of government but still says they can’t get anything done.
But that’s only when they can get it to work in their favor.
That’s government NOT of the people, but of the lobbyists and special interests, and only for the rich and wealthy of a certain demographic.
