A Sign From Beyond

Earlier today, my stepsister, Tami Whitaker, passed away. She had been ill with cancer for years and her health deteriorated over time.

The trash pickup is tomorrow and I took the trash out before it got dark as there is rain in the forecast.

Next door my neighbors have a chicken coop and I noticed this peahen around the coop. It noticed me as slowly walking in my direction.

I went and got it some old Cheerios I fed the birds. But they like the dry cat food better and so did the peahen. So I grabbed a small handful and tossed the food toward the fowl who gobbled it up.

Tami was a birdwatcher and birdlover and had feeders outside her home south of the Atlanta area.

And then I spotted my first hummingbird of the year.

My stepmother said it was a sign. Yes, it was.

Rest in power, Tami! We love you and will miss you!

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted. Thank you for reading.
