Happy St. Patrick’s Day And Happy 20th To The Crichton Leprechaun

I want to wish each and everyone a very happy and safe St. Patrick’s Day. You don’t need booze to celebrate today.

It’s also the 20th anniversay of the infamous Crichton Leprechaun. On March 14, 2006, the local news in Mobile, Ala. reported that people in the Crichton neighborhood had reported seeing a leprechaun in the area. The whole news segment is presented seriously with people recalling they had seen the leprechaun in the trees and presenting a mediocre sketch of the mythical creature.

It was one of the first news segments to go viral in the early days of YouTube and eBaum’s World. Yet, even as more and more people have access to cameras and video recorders on their smartphones, no one has yet to snap a real picture or video of it.

Maybe it was just passing through the area. Have you see the leprechaun?

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted. Thank you for reading.
