No matter what happened on Sunday at the Super Bowl, those on the right were going to act like it was a win for them. There’s a line from the movie The American President where a character says, “How do you have patience for people who claim they love America, but clearly can’t stand Americans?”
And I think it’s getting worse now. The Super Bowl Half-Time Show was sponsored by Apple Music. So, naturally, they’re going to get one of the most popular musicians of the time to perform.
Conservatives know they’re stepping on their full of shit ideology if they actually think they could force a corporation who has helped them with lobbying funds to have some old fart like Lee Greenwood or even George Strait do a “God Bless America” song.
But it’s enough to get their side roused and the social media chatter from the right in the last 24 hours has been laughable. It’s hard to debate anymore with them at this point. If you can’t see them for the hypocrites they are as many of them have taken to social media to say how bad the half-time show was despite initially saying they were refusing to watch it.
Footage of the alternative half-time show shows Kid Rock actually lip-syncing to his own song in what looks like a poorly lit warehouse because they didn’t want people seeing how little were there. Anyone want to bet they were paid to be there as they were paid to go see Melania?
Then there was the footage that you know who was watching the fucking game and half-time show from his house in Mar-a-Largo.
Let’s face it. He’s not going to throw a Super Bowl party and switch over. But if it gets others to, then so be it.
This is nothing more than a 40-year-plus feud he’s had with the NFL ever since he tried to get teams from the USFL moved over because he wanted to own an NFL franchise.
Then, conservatives are bragging about how successful Kid Rock’s concert was. Yet they’re using successful very liberally. You also can’t help but think of Bo Burnam’s “Pandering” when you see Brantley Gilbert wearing a Louis Vitton sport jacket while singing about “Real American.” I mean that’s as American as Apple pie. Everyone I know has at least three Louis Vitton clothing accessories. If you live in the suburbs, they send them in the mail with free samples of Tide.
But the biggest success was more people tuned in because of the controversy. Even better was how the Seahawks actually won the Super Bowl and its owner, Jody Allen, doesn’t care for this administration. At the same time, Robert Kraft, who owns the Patriots and is a Trump butt-licker had to sit and watch the franchise lose again.
Bad Bunny’s performance was good and felt alive. I can remember when all they had were marching bads performing because half-time was when everyone went to the bathroom or grab some more food out of the kitchen.
Even Brandi Carlisle, a lesbian, sung “America the Beautiful.” This further emphasized Bad Bunny’s message of unity. Yet that’s a concept conservatives don’t want. They don’t want unity. They want control. Of course, this is all to deter from the fact that the American President in real life is a racist and pedophile. While a lot of past Presidents were probably racist, I don’t think many of them were into child sex trafficking.
