Taylor Ferry Beach

Summer may be officially over but I took these pics the other day of Taylor Ferry Beach on Fort Gibson Lake, a few miles from my house. The U.S. government under the Flood Control Act of 1941 constructed the Fort Gibson Gravity Dam a few miles north to on the Grand (Neosho) River to form the Fort Gibson Lake.

However, years later it was believed the beach area was once sacred land of the Indigenous Native Americans and the small island pictured is actually a burial mound.

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted. Thank you for reading.
