In light of the recent events, let us not forget those that died on this date, Sept. 11, 2001. So many people of many ages lost their lives either on the planes that crashed or in the buildings that were the targets.
Many more rushed to help. They were police, firefighters, first responders. Many in the years since have died after being exposed to all the toxins and pollutants as a result of relief efforts. Even though it wasn’t mentioned for years, actor Steve Buscemi was a former firefighter with the New York Fire Department who returned to help. I often think of what he was exposed to because you can see it how he aged in the years since.
It’s well known that Pete Davidson lost his father and filmmaker Oz Perkins lost his mother, Berry Berenson. But there are many, many people whose named we’ve never really knew about. Please remember all of them.
