Annual Red Fern Festival This Weekend

Hopefully, the weather doesn’t postpone or cancel it. But if you’re going to be in the northeastern part of Oklahoma this weekend, you might want to head to Tahlequah for the annual Red Fern Festival.

The 17th annual festival is a celebration of “Where the Red Fern Grows” and the life of its author Wilson Rawls, The events are expected to start today at 12 p.m. in the downtown area of Tahlequah, which is also the capital of the Cherokee Nation.

Events are expected to run until 9 p.m. today, April 25 and continue 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, April 26.

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted. Thank you for reading.
