Let me start by saying, I find it horrible to hear of the attacks by the terrorist organization Hamas against the people of Isreal. I can’t begin to think what the people there are going through of their family elsewhere who have to watch in horror. A young woman I follow on social media was mentioned how worried she was for her grandmother who lives in Israel. As far as I can remember, something like this hasn’t happened in that area.
But I can’t defend or sympathize with our leaders who have allowed to come to this point. What is happening is the result of years, if not decades, between two powers that have been killing each other for no other reason than they follow different religion. There’s also issues over who really deserves to be living on the land and who doesn’t.. And if there is anyone really to blame for it, it’s Benjamin Netanyahu.
For years, the current Prime Minister has basically encouraged the continued oppression of those who live in the Occupied Palestine Territories (OPT) that Amnesty International called apartheid. And quite frankly, since Palestinians are mostly Muslims (but some are Christian and other religions), and most people in Israel are Jewish (yet there are others who follow other religions), they have been fighting since day one. And you can’t really blame the Palestinians for the United Nations basically saying a section of land they’ve lived on for decades and generations isn’t theirs but belongs to other people. And this is all based on some what the UN and western countries (United Kingdom and America) wanted.
Haven’t we done enough meddling in the Middle-East as it is? Netanyahu has for years been using America and its crazy Bible-thumping people as a puppet master knowing that as long as American Christians believe some scripture, they will bend over backwards. This is ironic because Americans are some of the most anti-Semitic people in the world. Remember Voyage of the Damned in which we refused to allow Jewish people being oppressed by Nazi Germany into America. Many were sent back where they were tortured and killed. And then we still treated Jewish people badly after we found out about the Holocaust. And to this day, people even deny it ever happened.
Yeah, a bunch of Jewish people got numbers tattooed on their arms to create a conspiracy. And they fudged a lot of family history to make those tortured, killed, gassed and burned to ashes not exist. That’s all we hear about, this Jewish conspiracy to control the media and the banks. But at the same time, we must protect Israel. But only the Jewish and Christian people in Israel. Because if there’s one thing God-fearing Christians in America hate more than Jewish people, it’s Muslims.
As George Carlin said about 30 years ago, America’s new hobby is “bombing brown people.” And as the Cold War came to end, we had to go “play with our toys in the sand” as he said and it seemed we were so focused on the Middle-East that we now had a new enemy – Middle-Eastern Muslims. This was only solidified by the events of 9/11. But never let history get in the way of good racism and prejudices.
America supported Iraq when they were at war with Iran following the Iranian Revolution when they stormed the American embassy. But we gave so much weapons to Iraq and Afghanistan as well to fight the Soviet Union, that eventually Iraq decided it was time to flex its muscles and go into Kuwait. But we only supported that because of oil so President George H.W. Bush stationed troops along the Kuwaiti/Saudi Arabian border because he was afraid Iraq would invade Saudi Arabia. But that didn’t happen.
However, Saudis got mad and that led to 9/11. It wasn’t on the orders of Saddam Hussein, but we’re fighting two wars in the Middle-East in no time. So, we must hate Muslims, Arabs and Persians, oh my! So, since Israel under Netanyahu has continued to persecute the Muslims, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. As the African proverb goes, “When the elephants fight, the ants suffer.”
And suffer they have. Hamas attacks Israel and hundreds dies. Israel attacks OPT and hundreds die. You can’t defend violence especially when it’s people trying to attend music festivals or just go about their normal days in their homes and then it’s attacked and collapses. There’s no rationale for it. There’s no way to say someone is just collateral damage for a greater cause. All these people killed had lives and they had families. They had a future that wad taken from them because of too many people who claim to be in power have disagreed for too long.
I’m not condoning anything, but Israel poked the hornet’s nest too long. Also, let’s look at our former Commander-in-Chief who is suspected of sharing classified documents with people who weren’t cleared to know. Trump allegedly told secrets about submarines to Anthony Pratt, an Australian billionaire. I wouldn’t put it past him telling people he knows (such as Russian president Vladimir Putin) and they relay it to someone else. For God’s sake, he wanted to arrange a meeting with the Taliban at the White House. I’m sure he’s told several people a lot of classified information. That’s how it seems this attack over the past weekend was so sudden.
I’ve worked at a company where the human resources department would chat with other people about confidential information. And I believe this led to some terminations. Yet if a company can terminate someone’s employment, why are we letting Trump back on the campaign trail. The same reason Israel who got rid of Netanyahu briefly only to have him return. We’re both too damn stupid to realize certain people shouldn’t be in positions of power. But they get enough people to believe that God has appointed them to run and they will vote for them.
This is why I mainly don’t follow any religion anymore. They all worship the same God that Christians call God, Muslims call Allah and Jewish people call Yahweh. But they fight over nothing really. It’s like having an argument over what is better Star Wars or Star Trek and beating and shooting people if they don’t agree with you. But then someone says Battlestar Gallactica or Babylon 5 is better and it’s Thunderdome. They’re just TV shows. They’re supposed to make us feel better.
And our own religion and spirituality is supposed to make us feel better. But just like people have grown to despise what has become of Star Wars and Star Trek lately, they live to hate it. Yet religion and spirituality is what you’re able to talk away from it for yourself, not what you feel should be imposed on others who don’t align with your thoughts and beliefs.
So, who’s really to blame in this latest war? We all are. Israel, Hamas, America, the United Kingdom and every other country that has basically stuck its nose in business that it shouldn’t have in the last 75-80 years. And it’s best for America to sit this one out as much as they can. Yes, we’re somewhat responsible on a peripheral way, but let’s not get farther down the rabbit hole.
What do you think? Please comment.
