Stepping Up To Stop Domestic Violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

I’ve known too many people who were victims of domestic violence. Their relationships, and using that word very loosely, didn’t end. They escaped. And that’s the word they used and it sends a chill down my back.

So, I’m asking you to please help out the executive director of Help-In-Crisis, an organization that helps out victims of domestic abuse. I’ve worked with this organization many times when I was editor of the Wagoner Tribune. They even had an office located next to our office for some time.

Laura Kuester is the executive director and she’ll be hiking in the Ozark Highland Trail in November to raise money. Unfortunately, many organizations like this are going to be underfunded, Kuester told us.

You can help out here https://secure.givelively.org/donate/help-in-crisis/take-a-step?ref=582fc02a-de1d-4ecb-b6a9-2e0f22904e74

I’ll be posting more about this later. Unfortunately, it’s a difficult subject to talk about because we still want to blame people for being in abusive relationships rather than offering them help and support.

Please if you can’t help, would you share the link above on social media.

Thank you all for your help.

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted. Thank you for reading.
