First and foremost, not all Iranians are bad people. And just to give you racists and bigots a lesson, they are not Arabs. They’re Persians. They mostly speak Farsi.
Now, Iran’s supreme leader Ali Hosseini Khamenei may be dead and he was definitely an awful, evil person. But Benjamin Netanyahu isn’t no saint and Donald Trump isn’t either. Ergo, people who always talk of peace seem to think the only way to achieve it is to spill the blood of the innocents. There are people in Iran who aren’t terrorists and want some change. But they’ve lived under the reign of Khamenei so long and many others before that, it’s really hard to convince people to rise up for change.
Also, just like here in America, I’m sure a lot of Iranians are afraid of some people getting a little more piece of the pie than them. Therefore, they will stay in their lane and behave like good citizens. Reports are coming in that more than 100 children are believed to be killed in the bombings. If you don’t have any empathy for them, then don’t even bother going to church tomorrow morning.
Of course, Christian Nationalism and the Islamic Regime that has been in Iran since 1979 are one and the same. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
However, it is easy to feel empathy for children who died for no other reason but political spin and be grateful that Khamenei is gone. Unfortunately, if nothing really revolutionary happens, the next person won’t be any different and maybe worse.
