Recently, the President spoke at a factory mill in Rome, Ga. The news is trying to say that “thousands” of people turned out. If they are included people protesting, maybe so. But pictures don’t lie. There were only 300 max there and that’s being very liberal.
It probably 250 give or take. Some people are arguing that since it was held at around 4 p.m. EST on a Thursday, a lot of people couldn’t attend. Others are trying to say they were only allotted so many because of the fire codes.
Ok, I might buy that. But why not book a better venue? Maybe it’s because even the President can’t get bigger venues? Rome has a population of over 38,000 people and Floyd County, of which it’s the county seat, has over 101,000. I’m almost certain people drove from neighboring counties such as Gordon (where I grew up), Whitfield, Bartow, Chattooga and probably even Dade, located up in the northwestern corner.
A local businessperson, Denise Carpenter, who was interviewed, was bragging on social media earlier on Feb. 19 about getting a ticket to see him. Someone actually said people were turned away from the “overflow” room too. But I don’t there was an “overflow” room. My suspicion is that Coosa Steel, where he spoke, was one of the few places that could accommodate him as well as even welcoming him.
The district used to be home to one of his biggest cheerleaders, Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has retired admitting she no longer agreed with his policies. (But I feel there’s a lot more there. She’s gone, that’s the case.) He has endorsed Clay Fuller, a former district attorney, for the position. But the trip to the town was really just an another way for Trump to rile up his fan base as it’s becoming harder to defend him as his name is all over the Epstein Files.
And this is still one of the deep MAGA areas in the country. I must say I was happy to see such a low turn-out and people were angry the security measures interviewed with releasing students from nearby schools. I’m sure a lot of parents, faculty/staff, and students were upset they had to stay longer. It just goes to show you that Trump doesn’t really care about anyone but himself.
And his recent deviance of the U.S. Supreme Court over the tariffs is proving that he doesn’t intend to be a lame-duck President regardless of the outcome of the 2026 general election. He’s losing some of his base. There will always be people who will stick by him like the soldiers in battle who refuse to surrender.
But I’ve noticed people are taking down their signs as they should as the 2024 election is almost a year and a half ago. A place near where I live has taken their signs down and put up a tattered white flag. I kid you know. I don’t know what that really means but as they run a company out of their home, they may have been losing business.
Prices still remain high and will probably stay that way. Rent is going up still and wages have been stagnant for a lot of people. You can’t keep blaming the Biden Administration as Trump has been in the White House for over a year now.
