Well, I got some bad news today. While it’s not as bad as some of the things going on around the world, it’s bad to me. I’m so sick of people constantly belitting someone’s problems in the grand scheme of the world.
C.S. Lewis once said, “The pain I feel now is the happiness I felt before.”
For the third time in five years, my disability claims were ruled “unfavorable” in a hearing. After the year I had, I was expecting some good news to end the year. But I’ve already talked to my lawyers and we going to start the appeal process a third time. But at this rate, I may not know until a year from now if the case has been remanded.
And it would most likely be 2027 before I have another year. It’s become tedious and frustrating in our society that we treat people in poor health this way. I just heard earlier this month about “ugly laws” which were passed in the 20th Century to make it a crime to appear in public in a wheelchair, a walking cane or even a visible scar.
There’s a lot of stuff I want to say right now but I’m keeping my filter on. It’s taken me over seven years and even if it takes another seven, I still will fight it until it is approved.
Hopefully, we can get some necessary and needed changes in our government so many people like me and others don’t have to go through this. We have to stop letting people say, “Yeah, but people are going to cheat the system.”
Even if 10 out 100 people on average cheat the system, that’s still a 90 percent success rate. Even when it’s close to 100, we still have politicians and elected leaders telling us it’s still not good enough.
