I know it’s been a week or so since the Exxxotica Miami convention ended but I’ve been busy with other things. I meant to post this sooner.
But considering that Exxxotica Miami didn’t seem up to what most expected, I wasn’t in any hurry. I know I wasn’t expected a full-on sex dungeon orgy but a lot of the time, it just felt like walking around Miami Airport Convention Center looking at the same people.
I wasn’t surprised some days when certain people weren’t at the booths. Even when I went to go buy a drink in the VIP lounge, the workers were too interested on their phones. Also the VIP lounge felt more like a bar at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday in the middle of the Fall. People left their trash around and a couple who sat next to me made notice of how filthy it was to leave “their shit” lying around.
Blue Buttery Chase, a pole dancer, commented on how the Chicago Exxxotica expo was full of people. My friend, Kat Bellatrix, who has the online name of SmartyKat314, said it was a lot different than a few years ago. We discussed that it could be the economy or even people afraid of certain decency laws. In Oklahoma now, drag shows have to be performed in doors rather than outside because of crazy laws.
There was a lot of law enforcement and security at the event. There are strict rules on what people can and can’t wear. Yet, as long as the nipples are covered and there is a dental floss-length G-string on the bottoms, it’s ok. I often felt like asking the people of Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office how they felt covering this event.
My suspicion is a lot of people who went to this event first time were expecting something more X-rated, while it was mostly a hard R event. I spoke with adult performers such as Victoria Peaks, Lauren Phillips and Emma Rose. They all seemed friendly.
However, I think the issue is over the last few years, more and more people are streaming on MyFreeCams.com and Chaturbate as people seemed to be more into camming. A friend of mine who I grew up with now has an OnlyFans under the name Annabelle Peaches. She started on the advice of her friend who has an OF account under Mrs. Poindexter after having her job terminated during the early weeks of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Peaks, who used to be a school teacher of math, said it seems everyone now has an OnlyFans account. Regardless, it was a nice event to see. Claire Fae was a popular attraction as hooks were pierced in her back and she was hoisted up by cables and swung around the main stage. I attended a seminar on burlesque hosted by Ruby Tesla. I think I was one of 10 people in attendance.
I’m not sure if I’ll be attending this one again. Rose said the nearby Double Tree hotel had problems with their air conditioning. I think it was par for the course for the way things went.
Maybe I’ll try to the one in Chicago next.
There’s also events scheduled later this year in the Washington, D.C. area as well ad Edison, N.J. Kat said those are usually very active.
