I want to wish each and everyone a Happy July 4. With it being Independence Day, we really need to examine what it really means.
Some people would argue that the colonists were wrong to ignore King George III and things could have been negotiated with more diplomacy. Others would say, as long as the 13 colonies were considered part of England, nothing would change.
We are a nation of immigrants as well as a nation of indigenous people who were treated horribly. Some of us were unwilling “immigrants” as there was slavery which helped build this country and make people rich.
But now, as there is a bigger wealthy inequality than in the Gilded Age, it’s more important to realize that “the meek shall inherit the Earth.” There’s more of us than there is of people who the current President only caters to.
Those who forget the past are bound to repeat it. I’m not advocating any violence or destruction, but there comes a point where when you’ve been backed into a corner, you decide to fight for your survival.
