More rain in the forecast as of this posting and the U.S. Corps of Engineers is reporting that Fort Gibson Lake, near where I live, is about 23.48 feet about the normal pool elevation.
I took these photos on the way home from western Wagoner County, outside Tulsa in Oklahoma. Just for reference, this is the overflow of the lake as this stretch of Oklahoma Highway 51 is built on levees. At other times of the year, it’s very dry that you can safely walk across it.
I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted.
Thank you for reading.
