Over the weekend, former President Joe Biden announced he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of pancreatic cancer. At 82, he’s the oldest living former Commander-in-Chief.
While I may not have always agreed with all his policies, cancer is an awful disease and pancreatic cancer is one of the terminal cancers. Ten years ago this month, Biden’s son, Beau died of brain cancer. He had served as the Attorney General of Delaware from 2007 to 2015 leaving office a few months before his death at 46.
I’m sure a lot of people are secretly cheering this news. But if you’ve ever known someone who’s had cancer and died from it, it’s nothing to be happy about. My stepfather died in 2005 from cancer. And a great uncle also died of lung cancer. It’s an awful disease.
To be honest, I don’t believe Biden’s successor means well with his latest post. I think both Kamala Harris and Barack Obama are heartfelt in their posts. But we know it’s coming that he continue to besmirch Biden and his family during this difficult time.
Life’s too short to be bitter. Some people don’t live as long. Certain people live under the belief they only live once but I feel it’s better to be remembered for how you lived.
