I want to wish all teachers past and present a Happy Teacher Appreciation Week. I know I have had some issues with past teachers, one never did get my name right. But the best teachers are the ones that never forget their students. And considering that most teachers work for 30 years on average, they’re teaching 3,000-4,500 in a career.
A few years ago, my fourth grade teacher Laura Pullam, passed away. She taught for 33 years. We were her last students. Her granddaughter graduated in our class. When we were standing around afterwards or near the senior awards ceremony, she remembered all our names even though she hadn’t seen us in years. She also would call and congratulate her former students who became teachers themselves.
Yes, some teachers are pretty bad and I had my fair share of the most stoic anal retentive on this planet. But there were a lot of good ones.
