“Pink” Moon/Passover This Weekend

Be sure to look out at your night sky this weekend as the Spring Pink Moon is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday nights.

However, it’s not really pink. It’s known for the creeping phlox, the pink wildflowers which are expected to bloom around this time of year. And since Sunday is Palm Sunday, there is a religious connection as it’s called the “paschal moon” which is used to designate Easter.

Since it’s already coming up the middle of April, that explains why Easter is on April 20 this year. By the way, today is the start of Passover in the Jewish religion. It’s a Jewish festival celebrating the Israelites’ Exodus from slavery in ancient Egypt, marked by a special meal called a Seder and a ban on leavened foods.

So Happy Passover to my readers. Have a good weekend!

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted.
