It seems 2025 isn’t a good year for a lot of people. Just two weeks ago, an earthquake struck in Myanmar affecting both the people of that country and the neighboring Thailand.
The last 24 hours have been a horrible one for the people as at least 124 people have reportedly died following a roof collapse at the Jet Set club in Santo Domingo, the country’s capital. At least 250 people were also injured, according to reports from the Associated Press.
The entire roof has collapsed at the club and many people in attendance were musicians, former professional athletes and even government officials. Tony Blanco, who played for the Washington Nationals, and Octavio Dotel, who played from 1998 to 2013 for several teams including the 2011 World Series winning St. Louis Cardinals, were just two of the people who have died.
Merengue singer Rubby Perez was reportedly performing at the time of the incident and also died.
Sadly we’re just a third into 2025 and it’s not looking good. Hopefully, people will put aside their differences and look how they can help others instead of trying to hurt them.
