Peace And Love To Family And Friends Of Peter Arsenault

They say if you ever want to know about someone’s character, look at how they treated an animal.

The shocking story of Chris Arsenault, who died in a fire in at an animal sanctuary in Long Island in New York, has made the rounds in the news the last 48 hours. The Happy Cat Sanctuary in Medford, N.Y. was home to almost 300 cats that had been abandoned or rescued. Sadly, it’s reported about 100 of them also perished in the fire on March 31. Other cats who who significant injuries had to be euthanized.

The fire is currently under investigation. But officials with the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of the Cruelty to Animals said Arsenault wasn’t a hoarder and actually took good care of the animals with proper care and well-fed. Roy Gross, chief of the SPCA in the area said there had been complaints as the sanctuary was in a residential area, but called Arsenault a “hero.”

He had founded the sanctuary in 2006 after his son, Eric, was killed in a motorcycle accident at the age of 24.

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted. Thank you for reading.
