Peace & Love To People Of South Asia

As March draws to a close in just over two days, the year 2025 hasn’t been a good one for people all around the world. Wildfires have destroyed a lot of southern California. High winds have created dust storms in Texas and Oklahoma causing traffic accidents and fatalities. And as of this posting, meteorologists are forecasting the next 48 hours could be a bad one for high wind thunderstorms and tornadoes over many states in the country.

While a lot of of people may not know where Myanmar is, they’re probably watching in horror the news over the last two days as an earthquake struck the country in southern Asia. There are a reported 1,600 people dead with the U.S. Geological Society and CNN reporting that the death toll could reach 10,000 or more when all search and rescue efforts are finished.

The quake was felt hundred of miles away in the neighboring country of Thailand where it caused buildings to shake and crumble in the country’s capital city of Bangkok. There are at least 10 people reported dead in the city with over 100 reported missing in the rubble.

Meteorologists here in Oklahoma reported the force was felt here.

The earthquake comes nearly 40 years after a 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck Mexico City on Sept. 19, 1985. The 1989 The Loma Prieta Earthquake which affected the San Francisco Bay area measured 6.9 while the infamous 1906 San Francisco earthquake measured 7.9 magnitude.

As it seems we’ve become more divided all over the world as Donald Trump as President seems to disturb alliances with other countries that have lasted decades if not hundreds of years, it’s now more important to realize that the people are Myanmar are just that – people like us. They’ve fallen on hard times as the result of a military coup in 2021.

If you have the means, please donate what you can to legitimate relief efforts. Unfortunately in this country as the Trump Administration will impose more tariffs, people are still struggling as prices remain high.

Maybe one day, people of this world will learn how to live as one without war and oppression.

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted. Thank you for reading.
