Florida Rest Stop Attractions

There are a lot of rest stops along the interstates in Florida. The dolphin is at the Florida Welcome Center off Interstate 75 South as you cross the state line from Georgia into the Sunshine State.

And I love seeing palm trees and Spanish Moss. It used to be seen everywhere around Savannah near Georgia Southern University. Back in the 1960s when The Rolling Stones played at the college, they were reportedly driving from the Savannah airport to the college when they spotted it hanging from trees. They stopped the car they were in and jumped out to collect it. Being young 20-something musicians from England, they had never seen it before.

The Spanish Moss is along Interstate 4 West between Orlando and Tampa.

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted. Thank you for reading.
