Trump’s First 10 Days Seem Like It’s Been 10 Months

I’m not the least bit surprised that there has been historical snow and freezing temperatures in the south and Gulf Coast area earlier this year as well as a huge flu outbreak that is currently spreading. I’m sure Hell would freeze over the day I would agree with a vote by Sen. Mitch McConnell. And I despise everything of that Republican older Senator from Kentucky.

However, on Friday, Jan. 24, he actually voted no on Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense. McConnell who has been Donald Trump’s lap dog (well, turtle really) actually said no to his master. Believe me, 10 years ago, I knew good and well, there would never be a day I agreed with McConnell, or Dick Cheney or Joe Walsh, that Teabagger, not the Joe Walsh from The Eagles, which I like, even though you’re supposed to hate The Eagles.

Well, a broken clock is correct twice a day. Sometimes, there’s just so much skullfuckery that even the craziest people on the planet realize that there’s a line you don’t cross. The sad fact of the matter these past 10 days, that line keeps moving. I’d say the bar can’t get any lower but I don’t think the smallest bacteria could get under it at this point.

Almost every other person I know has been sick here lately or someone related to someone I know has been sick. My primary doctor’s officer has been short-staffed they had to change the number of days their offices are open. And I just read that some Oklahoma schools are having to go to virtual days because attendance is getting low with the flu.

But let’s not talk about how all this could be a sign of something bigger. I mean, a hurricane hits New Orleans or New York City and people talk about how it’s God’s wrath punishing people. Yet, red states gets hard by natural disasters and serious illnesses and there’s crickets. Oh, well, seeing how athletes don’t pray to God when they don’t score, it just shows you that God is selective. Even being Almighty can be difficult.

As I finish this post up, Trump has said he’s going to have a detainment facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for the estimated 30,000 migrants that have been detained by authorities. Of course, I remember hearing this before but I couldn’t exactly understand it because it was in German. And I’m sure a lot of Japanese Americans have heard similar stories about something like this.

This is all part of the playbook of Project 2025, the one thing the Republicans and Trump tried to tell us wasn’t going to be a real thing. Granted, most of the stuff Trump has done he has the authority as the President to do so until Congress and the judicial system decides he doesn’t. I also don’t think all those executive orders he’s signing he has written himself. The only thing he’s wrote is his signature. But I won’t be surprised if there’s a rubber stamp because he will grow tired of doing that.

Christians are divided over whether Bishop Mariann Budde said the right thing or she had a “woke agenda” while delivering a sermon in front of Trump and J.D. Vance and their respective wives. At my mom’s graveside services, some fire and brimstone preacher went on for a bit, but I had to hold back a laugh while he got confused on who my brother’s husband was. Yes, he touched two gay men’s hands and he didn’t burst into flames.

Personally, I don’t give a fuck if I ever see that man again. My family likes my brother-in-law and that’s all that matters. If someone can tell me about what’s wrong with the LGBTQIA community without bringing up the Bible, laws that don’t exist anymore or especially “it’s against nature,” then I would to hear their argument. Because they’re argument is simply “I don’t like it.”

Well, I don’t Mystery Men, Idle Hands and Wet Hot American Summer but everyone seems to keep talking about these movies as if they are the three greatest comedies of the Y2K era. I don’t watch them. I’ve tried to see what’s so good about them, but I just can’t. You know what I do? I don’t watch them. No one is forcing me to like them or even watch them.

Yet, people act like we’re not supposed to be considerate if two consenting adults love each other. They don’t like same-sex marriage or interracial marriage. It’s wrong for an older woman to be with a younger men. However, they don’t care when older men are with younger women, especially those that are very young, i.e. breeding age. Vance said he wants to see “more babies in America.” And that’s why it’s wrong for a man to be with a woman who can’t have his children, I guess.

There’s more to being in a relationship/partnership than having kids. Marriage should been more about forcing women to give you three kids to the risk of her health and well-being. You should only have kids with a spouse/partner who wants to have kids with you. At 46 and counting, I can’t fathom wanting to have kids with anyone right now. That doesn’t mean I won’t find someone who I might want to start a family with.

However, it should be our choice to take that next step, not the government’s. And while they say we should have more babies, the government is doing nothing to help us. The price of eggs is increasing. Trump and his minions are cutting programs which seems to negate the reason we need to pay taxes if we’re not going to get effective representation. He’s more worried about the way people make movies.

But as the saying goes from one of my favorite movies, “Who’s more foolish – the fool or the fool who follows him?”

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted. Thank you for reading.
