Condolences To The Family And Friends Of Passengers Of The D.C. Plane Crash

I want to express my condolences to the family and friends of the passengers of the American Eagle Flight No. 5342 and those in the Black Hawk helicopter.

Reports are coming in that all people on both aircrafts (64 on the plane and three on the helicopter) are feared dead as of this posting. The plane and helicopter collided mid-air over the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.

The plane was out of Wichita airport and included several figure skaters. American Eagle is a subsidy of American Airlines. The helicopter involved in the collision was on a training flight and had belonged to B Company, 12th Aviation Battalion out of Fort Belvoir in Virginia.

I hate to get political at a time like this but for something like this, the nation needs a good leader to show empathy rather than canned speeches. Shame on Donald Trump during an earlier press conference today where he blamed President Joe Biden and attacked diversity initiatives. However, he himself ordered the removal of heads of the Transportation Security Administration and the Coast Guard as well as an aviation security advisory group.

Peace and love be with the family and friends of the people who have died. It’s a shame it takes disasters like this for all of us to put our differences aside even for a few brief moments to come together.

Take care of yourself today…and take care of someone else.

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted. Thank you for reading.
