With wildfires raging in southern California and the winter storms in the south, it seems nature has come into 2025 with a vengeance. Please be safe if you have to be out and about today. And please only get out if you absolutely have to.
As I was returning from Georgia this past week, I saw a lot of road and emergency work crews out. Please think of them as they’re working. If you have travel plans, please change them so an airplane seat, rental car or a hotel room can become available for these hard-working people can get places faster and have a nice warm bed to sleep in.
My stepfather worked for Georgia Power and said that they would often work in shifts where they slept in cab of the work trucks. And my cousin works for the power company in the town I grew up in so he and others have a busy time ahead of them.
As I was leaving my stay in Tupelo, Miss. to get to Interstate 22 West, I was behind a snowplow truck and sand/salt spreader with the Mississippi Department of Transportation. Trucks on Interstate 40 through Arkansas had sleets of snow and ice on their trailer tops that were coming off. So, you don’t need that hitting your car if you’re traveling.
Friends of mine are also working on how to raise funds for the people of California. So, check back here later. I’ll post more when I know more.
I’m staying in and unpacking both physically and mentally from the last 10 days. Thank you for ready and subscribing.
