I want to wish all the military veterans out there a great day today. I won’t say “Happy Veterans Day” because some of them haven’t been too happy. The government for years seems to not treat them well. And it probably doesn’t help that the next Commander-In-Chief has called them “suckers” and “losers” and criticized John McCain for being captured.
Some people join the military because it’s the only way they know they can advance on a career path. Others do it because they want to get money to go to college or a vo-tech institute. We have those who do it as a family tradition. Whatever the reasons, it takes a lot to do knowing there is the possibility that you will be sent to a war zone and you may not come back alive. And many people are just barely out of high school when they make this decision.
If that’s some people’s idea of a “loser,” then they won’t ever appreciate a true winner.
