I know a lot of people will be glad with this election is over. If you’re reading this and already know my politics, you know I’m hoping and confident Vice-President Kamala Harris will win. I think Donald Trump has worn out his welcome with a lot of people.
In 1996, people didn’t think Bill Clinton would get re-elected. He did. In 2012, people actually through Barack Obama was out and the Tea Party went after him to make sure he didn’t win. He won too. People even thought we wouldn’t elect a biracial man in 2008. But the alternative was Sarah Palin who was one heartbeat away from the Oval Office if John McCain won. I feel J.D. Vance is the same type. People may like Trump but they don’t want Vance. Or they view Vance as too in the pocket of the billionaires to support the blue-collar people and the middle-class.
They have said this is the most important election in a while. But every election should be the most important election. Look at North Carolina in 2010. It was on its way to becoming a very progressive state. But there was less turnout in 2010 than in 2008 and the conservatives opposed to the Obama Administration got in. There is no such thing as a “Mid-Term Election.” That’s the semantics the powers that be used to make you feel you can sit this one out.
If it’s the school board or bond issues, you should still vote. Whenever they want a ballot issue to fail, they’ll have it on its own election, rather than piggy-backing it on a more general election. They know the turnout won’t be as high.
If you haven’t voted already, please get out and do so. Your place of employment has to give you time to go vote. It’s the law. Also, if the local Election Board has tried to purge you, you can still request a provisional ballot as long as you have valid ID.
If you’ve already voted, thank you.
And thank you again for reading and subscribing.
