Please Remember Those Who Died On This Date Back In 2001

It’s hard to believe but it’s been 23 years since the 9/11 attacks on America. I had just graduated from college the prior spring. College graduates this year weren’t even alive on that date.

However, I do hope they are all registered voters. I don’t mean to get too political, but the attacks were politically motivated due to American policies that had been in place in the Middle East in the 20th Century. I skipped the debates last night because there’s no reason to waste time between deciding between Kamala Harris or Donald Trump.

It’s quite obvious by this time who is supporting who and if you don’t already know, you probably shouldn’t be voting. You wouldn’t hire someone like Trump to scrub toilets at the worst gas station in town. Yet, you think he deserves to sit in one of the most coveted spots in the country if not the world.

Earlier this week, Ted Koppel was on CBS Sunday Morning interviewing people at the Wisconsin State Fair. People who said they would still vote for Trump said they find him likeable. I know what that means. They don’t want to vote for Harris, so they will vote for Trump.

In the last 25 years, America has had an terroristic attack that not only killed those on the planes, at The Pentagon and in the World Trade Center Towers, but also the relief and rescue workers. And then there was the insurrection coup attempt on Jan. 6, 2021. You can’t say Never Forget about 9/11 while encouraging people to forget about Jan. 6.

Even recently, Dick Cheney, who was Vice-President on this day in 2001, said he can’t vote for Trump and will be voting for Harris. I’d never thought I’d live to see the day to agree with someone like him. But I guess that heart transplant he got was put to some good use as long as it’s another living voter keeping Trump out of office a second time.

Fascism is nothing more than state-sanctioned terrorism. You want to honor those who died on 9/11. Don’t support the Christian Nationalism that people on the right want to turn America into.

I remember a time when there were no terrorist attacks and school shootings. I believe we should return to that time.

I’m not a praying person, but I would encourage you to pray for those who died today.

What do you think? Please comment.

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted. Thank you for reading.
