There are 10 weeks between the time of this post and the Nov. 5 Presidential Elections. We don’t know what will happen. It’s very likely Donald J. Trump may be in prison by this time next month. But I believe that there is no way Trump will be going to prison willingly. He’ll try to leave the country before he surrenders to authorities.
The man has his own jetliner. It’s not like he needs to go through TSA checkpoints. As much as he is in cahoots with Vladimir Putin, it’s very likely, hew could end up in Russia before the elections. This could change the election. Some people who think Trump is on their side might see the errors of their ways and just not vote at all because they couldn’t in good conscience vote for Kamala Harris. Some Republicans are really starting to get fed up with all that has happened in the last 10 years.
Even Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford, a Republican, tried to work with the Biden Administration and Democrats on a immigration bill that Trump ordered the Republicans kill. Why? Because it might look good for Biden and the Democrats. Now, there’s talk that Trump is in talks with Benjamin Netanyahu, prime minister of Israel on averting a ceasefire or any action that will look favorable toward Biden and the Democrats.
But there is one thing the Republicans and Trump supporters have been pushing for a while and that’s how the election will be rigged and unfair, even though they have no evidence to it. The only thing they are using to show the election will be rigged is all the criminal cases Trump is connected to. Several in the Fulton County, Georgia case have already pleaded.
Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and claimed his innocence. He’s even acting like he has the authority to do the thinks he’s charged with because he was the President. This type of chest-thumping bravado he has done makes all his supporters happy. Mainly because some of them don’t look like they know too much about politics. Or they have rallied against him because he’s found a way to beat the system, even though the system has actually worked in his favor a lot of times.
And the Trump campaign and GOP may have an ace up their sleeve that could work. You see they’re probably banking on a small percentage not being too knowledgeable. Even at Biden’s inauguration, several people were waiting to see him be arrested by police. Yet what they didn’t understand was at noon Eastern Standard Time on Jan. 20, 2021, Trump was no longer President. He didn’t have much authority left.
Also, people felt that former Vice-President Mike Pence had the authority as President of the Senate to nullify the Electoral Votes and say that Trump had actually won. And if Harris wins in November, she will be one of only three incumbent VPs to have gone directly to the Presidency. The last was President George H.W. Bush who actually presided over the certification of the votes which occurred with about as much fanfare and excitement as routine eye exam.
And this is where things could get hairy. If the Republicans and Trump’s campaign argue the election was rigged by Harris and the Democrats, they could very likely push to have a independent third party oversee it. However, that’s very unlikely. More than anything else, they will do whatever they can to delay the certification.
It probably won’t work because there are a lot of factors involved. The Republicans will first have to keep the majority in the House. Then they will have to delay past the Jan. 20 date which seems unlikely, even with a filibuster. If the Republicans keep the House, they can keep Mike Johnson on or in a radical move, appoint Donald Trump. But the first thing they have to do is elect a Speaker while at the same time delaying certifications.
It’s not improbable but it would be almost impossible. You also got to factor in the entire Republicans in both House and the Senate will be on board with you. Even though he was a Trump supporter through and through, former Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe, a Republican who was always controversial, still voted to certify the votes for Biden. And when Al Gore presided over the controversial certification in January of 2001, he still allowed the votes to go toward George W. Bush despite opposition from Democrats. You see the job duties at a time like this are mostly ceremonial. The Veep gets to call it to order and call for a certification of votes. It’s the same way a mayor will call the town council to vote.
But if a Republican is Speaker and the votes aren’t certified past Jan. 20, then they could have the Speaker assume the duties of President since it would be illegal for both Biden and Harris to remain in their duties. It’s highly unlikely they would risk this backdoor coup attempt. But you know good and well, they probably have considered it. It’s very likely Biden and his administration will have a lot of security measures this time around. There will be no repeat of the Jan. 6, 2021 incidents.
There will be attempts. But I’m certain the Biden Administration is already working with all law enforcement agencies and National Guards to make sure there are no attempts on the lives of any Congress members or Washington D.C. officials. It sucks that it’s come to this but this is the crazy world Trump and the Republican Party in a post Nixon/Watergate era has unleashed. The Party of Accountability doesn’t like to be held accountable for its actions.
It might sound outrageous why I have put up as a scenario, but outrageous has become a new normal that we don’t need. Many people are supporting Trump solely because they are racists, bigots and misogynistic and want a different country. But even to implement something like Project 2025 or Agenda 47 would cause more problems than people realize. While we may have disagreements on which policies and programs our tax dollars go to, those agendas basically call for a one-party dictatorship.
While a scenario like Project 2025 or Agenda 47 won’t work, they will try to get as many things to work if they are possible. This is why they are probably going to go on this idea that Harris won’t be allowed to preside over the certification if she is the President-Elect. It will happen if she is elected, you just watch. Just last month, Patrick Braxton, a black man, finally was able to be officially mayor of Newbern, Ala. as the white town council which had only been appointed and other officials kept him from being the mayor until it went through the courts.
And that might be another scenario Trump and the GOP will try, using the U.S. Supreme Court to appoint a President. However, now people are looking closer at the Supreme Court, I doubt that will happen. They had a legal loophole in the Bush v. Gore case of 2000. But the facts and number shows that since 1992, the majority of American voters have selected a Democrat nominee seven out of eight times. Yet twice, a Democrat has won the popular vote but kept out due to the Electoral College. This is a mistake people didn’t repeat in 2020 and may not want to repeat again.
In all honesty, the Electoral College is very outdated. It will be abolished one day just not now, but hopefully before 2028. Because if the Republicans don’t win this year, they will just change Project 2025 to Project 2029.
The brutal facts are people don’t want Republicans in the White House, especially in their current state. I’ve often said the Libertarian Party will probably become overtake the GOP by 2028 or 2032. And as one person said, following the assassination attempt on Trump’s life, he learned like Ebenezer Scrooge that people didn’t care about him. A lot of people really really hate Trump and don’t want him back in office. And when the day does come when he has passed, the American public will react the way they did when Margaret Thatcher passed.
A passing should be a celebration of life, not a celebration of death. But some people don’t leave much behind to celebrate.
