Well, Mother Nature again didn’t want to cooperate with TahlEquality as they celebrated their 10th anniversary on Saturday. The organization which is for all members of the LGBTQIA community as well as their allies was celebrating Pride Month with festivities in Norris Park.
However, the summer heat was bearing down on them causing them to close things up a little early. There was a lot of shade in the park and bottled water in huge coolers of ice were on hand as well as cooling fans. Yet with temperatures in the upper 90s and a heat wave close to 110, it took its toll on those there.
TahlEquality had held its last event in late October of 2023 when a cool snap brought a lot of rain and colder temperatures to the event, leading for organizers to close things early as night fell. Oh, well! Many of those in the LGBTQIA community know about unseen forces trying to ruin their days. Regardless, they pressed on and many of those in attendance seemed to have a good time.
A drag show hosted by Porcelynn Turrelle was performed, but had to be cut short because of the heat. Even with the temperatures, people cheered and applauded. There still was a turn-out of people of all ages to the park where local organizations had booths set up.
