Happy AAPI Heritage Month

I want to wish everyone out there who is Asian-American and of Pacific Islander Heritage a great month. I know things haven’t been the best for many people since Covid-19 as anti-Asian sentiments have gotten worse. But life is too short to be bigoted toward anyone based on skin color and/or culture.

My ex’s father was in the U.S. Navy and was of the auxiliary unit that reported to Pearl Harbor in the aftermath of the Dec. 7, 1941. Despite being a good-natured and friendly person, he said he still couldn’t get over what he saw and therefore didn’t care for many Japanese people. We shouldn’t judge people based on battles and wars that older men make the younger generations fight and suffer from.

That’s why I think you can be Pro-Israel and Pro-Palestine at the same time but against the violence and atrocities committed by the Israeli government and Hamas. But that’s an entirely different subject.

Please be kind and just to each and everyone not just this month but every month.

I'm an award winning journalist and photographer who covered dozens of homicides and even interviewed President Jimmy Carter on multiple occasions. A back injury in 2011 and other family medical emergencies sidelined my journalism career. But now, I'm doing my own thing, focusing on movies (one of my favorite topics), current events and politics (another favorite topic) and just anything I feel needs to be posted. Thank you for reading.
