The last weekend in April means it’s time for the Red Fern Festival in Tahlequah, Okla. The morning rains didn’t cancel the events as vendors got their booths set up along Muskogee Avenue. The event is held each year in honor of Wilson Rawls, who lived in the Tahlequah area. He famously wrote the novel Where the Red Fern Grows published in 1961 based on his childhood experiences growing up in the Ozarks.
